The Houston Chronicle reported that despite rumors that the Rockets will take a shortcut by trading brand names to the team in order to gain superficial success, they hope to elevate themselves to the top of the Western Conference and win a championship.   ( wintime999s )

One of the targets that was previously rumored was Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, but it seems that he may have to put his intentions on hold until the team’s strength is more mature, including ‘KD’ becoming available in the next 1-2 years. 

In addition to Durant, another player Houston has his eye on is Miami Heat swingman Jimmy Butler.

Butler has one year remaining on his guaranteed contract at Casey Center worth $48.79 million, with a player option in 2025-26.

The 36- year-old forward has two more seasons left to guarantee his salary, $ 51.1 million and $ 54.7 million , respectively.
