Jameis Winston, the 30-year-old quarterback, made his first start in more than two years and helped the Cleveland Browns revive their offense to a 29-24 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, ESPN reported. ( wintime999 )
Winston completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 115.3 rating, while wide receiver Cedric Tillman caught seven passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns, with the other score coming from tight end David Njoku.
“I thought he played well, I thought the defense was great all day, they really embraced the challenge, and I thought he read the game and everybody was open,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said of Winston. “He made good decisions. He’s not perfect. He’s not perfect. I’m not going to coach him to be perfect, but I thought he played well.”
Stefanski handed playmaking duties to offensive coordinator K Dorsey, who restored the rhythm and movement that had been lost with Winston driving the offense to more than 20 points for the first time this season and setting records for career highs in passing, total yards and third-down conversion percentage.
“He’s a very energetic guy,” Tillman said of Winston. “James always tells us he’s going to keep doing well. He’s going to come back to us no matter what. He played great today.”
The former 2015 No. 1 overall pick made his first start since Sept. 25, 2022, when he was still with the New Orleans Saints. He fumbled a sack late in the first half, but the Browns led 10-6 after two quarters.
“Kane always said we weren’t going to be conservative,” Winston said of Dorsey. “We were going to be aggressive and not conservative, and that’s what he taught as an offensive coach. And that’s what we showed. That’s what we showed on the field today.”
‘I’m confident that when I make good decisions play by play in that moment, I’m going to be a great quarterback in the NFL. I’m sure of that.’
