Mike Williams, 30, is excited to be starting his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being traded from the New York Jets before the deadline, NFL Network reports.
After the Jets traded Devontae Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, Gang Green agreed to trade Williams for draft picks from the Steelers, a deal that would work for all parties.
‘I was asleep,’ Williams said. ‘I felt like my phone was vibrating, but I thought I was dreaming. I had five missed calls from my agent, and then the Jets GM called me and told me about this trade.’
‘Excited for this opportunity, glad to be here, looking forward to it, ready to get started.’
Williams joins a similarly-situated team after Mike Tomlin decided to start senior full-back Russell Wilson in place of Justin Fields and has gone 2-0.
However, there is a difference in that the Steelers are in dire need of wide receiver after missing out on Brandon Aiyak from the San Francisco 49ers, with George Pickens, Calvin Austin and Van Jefferson being Wilson’s primary weapons before adding Williams.
“It’s very exciting. It starts with the front, the run game, and then you get to see the playmaking from the wide receivers,” Williams said. “JP (George Pickens) has been there, done a great job every game, so adding me is another dangerous player who can play there and do a good job.”
‘I’m looking forward to this opportunity. I’m a playmaker, I want to make an impact, I want to contribute. I’m going to work and show that I deserve to be on the pitch.’ ( sakidbet )
