Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said rookie draft pick Travis Hunter began working with the offensive line during rookie minicamp this week and will begin practicing with the defense next week, NFL Network reported.  ( vox888 )

Hunter got his first chance to play wide receiver for the Jaguars this weekend in rookie minicamp, unlike most other players in the same draft class, as he will practice with the defense next week as a wide receiver. 

‘Yes, he will be able to adapt to the defense next week,’ Coen said. ‘We decided yesterday and today that we wanted to clear up some things that we might have missed yesterday, do some more training with the offensive team, and next week he will start training with the defensive team.’

Hunter’s college star power and unparalleled versatility led the Jaguars to trade him up to the No. 2 overall pick. As Coen said he would do on offense when he joined the team, he also had to learn the system on defense.

“You know, this organization expects a lot from me,” Hunter said. “They expect me to come out and play right away, so I’m going to do whatever it takes to get me out there and play right away.”

“You have to get used to it,” Hunter said of learning both sides of the game plan at the NFL level. “There are just so many different types of decisions, but defense is pretty simple. You just have to get used to the offense.”

‘He obviously has to learn both sides of the ball,’ added Coen. ‘He’s a smart guy about football, the game of football makes sense to him, so now he just has to put in the time and give himself more time to be successful playing even on one side at this level, so he knows what he needs to do in the future. ‘
