Barcelona have revealed they will carry out further tests on Pau Gubarsi in the next 48 hours after he suffered a right ankle injury during Spain’s 2-2 draw with the Netherlands and was sent back to the club to continue his rehabilitation, Diario Sport reports on Saturday.

Gubarsi started alongside Robin Le Normand in Rotterdam before being withdrawn in the 41st minute after a clash with Memphis Depay left him with an ankle injury, although Spain boss Luis de la Fuente believes the 18-year-old centre-back will be fit for Sunday’s second leg in Valencia.
But in the end, Gubarsi had to withdraw from the national team camp to return to his club to recuperate, with 24-year-old defender Mario Quila from Lazio called in to replace him.
When Gubarsi returned to the club and underwent tests on Saturday morning, Barcelona confirmed the problem was on his right ankle and will undergo palliative treatment before being tested again in the next 48 hours.
‘The tests carried out this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper have shown that first-team player Pau Gubarsi has extensor tendons in his right ankle. He will receive conservative treatment and his mobility will be re-evaluated in the next 48 hours,’ read a statement from the Blaugrana.
