The new England internationals reported to St George’s Park on Tuesday but after assessments both Palmer and Watkins returned to their clubs to continue their rehabilitation from persistent problems.

Foden did not report for training after Pep Guardiola explained he had a stomach virus and would also miss the international break.

There are currently no plans to call up replacements after Carsley announced his first 26-man squad on Thursday.

The Nations League will be the first time Carsley has taken charge of a senior national team, having previously managed the U21s.
