Forty Niners is seeking a new defensive coach to replace Steve Wilks, who was fired from his position on February 14 after taking charge of the Gold Rush’s defense for just one season.  ( cup1688 )

According to the report, Forty Niners Just finished interviewing Staley, former LA Chargers head coach, and insider Sorensen, who works as defensive pitching coordinator and nickels coach. And there are plans to interview insiders like defensive backs coach Daniel Bullock this week. Including two other candidates, Shenahan said everything will be settled this week before a new defensive coach is appointed.

Staley, 41, spent most of the last three seasons as head coach of the LA Chargers, compiling a 24-25 record before being fired after Week 14 of the 2023 season. As defensive coach of the LA Rams during the era of head coach Sean McVay in 2020. 

As for Sorenzo, 45, he joins the staff. 49ers in 2022 as a defensive assistant. before stepping up to work as defensive pitching coordinator and nickels coach in the 2023 season.
