Tassotti disappointed with Fonseca’s drop in Leao defeat to Napoli pgzen

Fonseca decided to drop Leo to the bench for Tuesday’s big game against Napoli, bringing him on in the second half with a 2-0 deficit, but the Portugal winger was unable to do much as Napoli controlled everything before scoring three goals.

Leao’s substitution has fuelled speculation he is having problems with Fonseca, while Tassotti, for whatever reason, does not agree with a player of his quality sitting out such an important game.

“Milan cannot do without him, he is very important for the team,” said Tassotti, who played for Milan between 1980 and 1997.

“I don’t have an internal situation, but it’s one thing to bench him as punishment, but if Leo doesn’t play because of his options, then something is wrong.”

“If you have a great player in your team you should manage him to bring out his best. It’s okay to rotate him sometimes to help him perform better, but it shouldn’t be a masochistic punishment.” ( pgzen )
