Ramsdale withdrew from the England squad before the game to undergo further tests on his injury, while Bednarek picked up the injury during Poland’s game against Portugal on Friday last week.

“Both are out for the weekend and for a number of weeks,” Southampton manager Russell Martin said ahead of Sunday’s clash with leaders Liverpool.

“Aaron had surgery on his finger and is hoping to be back by Christmas.”

“As for Yanni B, we had a quick chat after the game. He was very concerned about his knee injury. Luckily, it wasn’t as serious as we feared and hopefully he’ll be back before Aaron in a week or two.”

The injuries to both of them are really bad news for Southampton as they are regular starters this season, with Ramsdale starting all nine of the last nine games and Bednarek starting all 11 of the league games and not being substituted. ( wintime999 )
