Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has decided to place Troy Fautanu on injured reserve after the rookie offensive tackle suffered a knee injury during practice last week, ESPN reports.

Fautanu is set to miss at least four games against the LA Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders, with the earliest possible return being against the New York Jets in Week 7 on Oct. 20. 

“We don’t really know what’s going to happen with him,” Seahawks second-year offensive tackle Broderick Jones said of his teammate. “I’m just going to play in his place and then I’m going to play after he gets an MRI and everything. Then we’ll see what happens.”

Tomlin, meanwhile, revealed that he had previously planned to rotate the tackles, saying: “I planned to use both of those guys. I know Troy has the ability, that’s why we put him on the field. But I let him go because I was concerned about his physicality level.”
