    The Red Devils have announced the signing of the 39-year-old from Sporting Lisbon after parting ways with Erik ten Hag, with the manager set to take over during the international break in mid-month.

    There are questions about what the team’s stars will be like, especially the players Ten Hag has brought in, but Stam believes that with Amorim’s playing system, players like De Ligt will be a key part.

    “I think Matthijs will have a brighter future with Amorim coming in, especially if he decides to play with three centre-backs,” Stam told the Metro.

    “He can definitely be one of them. He can play on the right or in the middle. There are a lot of options, so I’m not scared or worried about him.”
