Rolfes confirms Alonso will stay until summer 2026 Marinabays 

Marinabays  Xavier Alonso will stay with Leverkusen until the end of his contract in the summer of 2026, the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed. Marinabays 

Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has confirmed that Xavier Alonso will stay at the club until the end of his contract in the summer of 2026 amid links with Real Madrid, RTL reported on Sunday. 

Both Carlo Ancelotti and Alonso are contracted until June 30, 2026, and it has been reported that Real Madrid are ready to make a move for Alonso to take over as head coach next summer should the sacked boss be released early. However, Rolfes insists that Alonso will remain fully committed to the club until the end of his current deal.

‘The chances of Xabi Alonso staying until 2026 are 100 percent certain. He has a contract and shows no signs of going in any other direction,’ Rolfes said.

Alonso led Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title in the club’s history last season, as well as the DFB-Pokal and a Europa League final, but the German side have struggled this season and currently sit fourth in the table with just 16 points from nine games, seven points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
