Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen, 25, has revealed he had no choice but to sign with the Baltimore Ravens ahead of Sunday’s game against his former team, ESPN reports.

Queen spent the first four years of his career with the Ravens, having entered the league as a first-round draft pick in the 2020 class before the 25-year-old linebacker signed a three-year, $41 million deal with the Steelers this past offseason. 

“I didn’t want to come back,” Queen said before Sunday’s game against the Ravens. “I didn’t get an offer to come back, and it’s definitely a little frustrating after being there for four years and the bonds you develop with your teammates and stuff like that in the first few months, you definitely go through those feelings.”

‘Now after you play a game, you just go through it and you want to win the game. You want to win with your teammates, your new teammates, you want to make friends with them. Everything you do as far as the organization that you’re in right now, like I said, I’m going to have a feeling, obviously anybody in my position is going to do it this week. So I’m just taking it one day at a time, anything can happen.’ 

Queen felt there was no place for him in Baltimore, as the Ravens chose to build the team around Roquan Smith, who they traded from the Chicago Bears before giving the 27-year-old linebacker a five-year, $100 million contract with $60 million guaranteed. 

‘The only person I talk to is Rokwon,’ Queen said. ‘I spoke to him last week so we could talk at the beginning of the week because we knew we were going to be on the same team. I might not get a text from anyone this week.’

Queen also revealed that he’s getting better at adjusting to the Steelers after a slow start with his new team. “I just have to look in the mirror and say I want to get back to myself. I’ve gotten better in the last few weeks. I just have to raise the bar.” ( player1688 )
