Brighton, Everton, Leicester City, Fulham and Crystal Palace all played on Tuesday and advanced, with no teams going down.

Brighton beat Crawley Town 4-0 at home, while Everton, who had lost their first two Premier League games, returned to form with a 3-0 win over Doncaster, while Leicester City thrashed Tranmere 4-0, with new attacker Jordan Ayew scoring his first goal for the team.

Fulham, who visited Birmingham, also survived by beating the home team 2-0, while Crystal Palace also secured a fine win by beating Norwich City 4-0 at home, with new Japanese player Daiichi Kamada scoring.

Several Premier League teams are in action on Wednesday, while the seven European teams will play in the third round onwards.
