The Philadelphia Eagles are set to hire former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas as a senior scout for the team, according to Jeff McLain of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Douglas served as the Eagles’ vice president of player personnel from 2016-19 before being tapped by the Jets to become their general manager until being fired in mid-November 2024 after Gang Green went 3-8. He ended his six-season stint in New York, where he went 32-68 and never advanced to the playoffs.
Despite his disastrous time with the Jets, Douglas is still respected as one of the NFL’s best scouts, especially in the 2022 draft, where he selected cornerback Zos Gardner, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall and pass rusher Jermaine Johnson, arguably the best class in recent years.
