Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has revealed there are no disputes or problems with Inigo Martinez, insisting the 33-year-old Barcelona centre-back’s withdrawal from the Spanish national team was due to injury, Marca reported on Thursday.

Inigo has been in fine form for Barcelona this season and was called up by De la Fuente to the Spain squad for the first time in two years, but the 33-year-old defender withdrew from the squad with a knee injury, with rumours of an argument between the two sides, which the La Liga boss has denied. 

‘There is no problem with Inigo, he can come whenever he wants when he is called,’ De La Fuente said. ‘Nothing is happening, there are things being said that have nothing to do with reality. He did not come because of an injury.’

De La Fuente also spoke about Barcelona’s youngsters Pedro Gonzalez Lopez Pedri and Lamine Yamal, who are causing much excitement and hope for the present and future of Spanish football.
