Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson admitted his position was out of his control after Sunday’s 6-52 loss to the Detroit Lions dropped the Jaguars to 2-9, NFL Network reported.

The Jaguars have given up seven consecutive touchdowns, the most in NFL history, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that there could be changes coming in Jacksonville and Pederson could soon lose his job.

“I can’t control that,” Pederson said of his future. “Look, I’ve been in this league a long time. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. But at the same time, I’ve got a job to do, and that’s to prepare for a good division opponent in two weeks.”

Pederson brought peace back to Jacksonville in 2022 after the franchise was in turmoil during Urban Meyer’s tenure as head coach.

The Pederson-era Jaguars started off strong, winning the AFC South and making the Divisional Playoffs in his first season. However, they started the 2023 season with an 8-3 record and failed to make the playoffs after finishing the season 1-5, which was the beginning of a downturn that has led to a 2-9 record this season.

‘It’s the emotion of how much you’ve given this week and then you play like we did. It’s frustrating. Our break came at the right time, obviously. Our players need time off. They need to refresh themselves, recharge, both the coaches and the players. But we need to use the first part of the week to reflect and go back and learn as a coach to see what went well and what didn’t.’

‘That’s a good opportunity we have, six games to go and it will be exciting because most of them (four of the six) are division games, so there’s still a chance.’

The Jaguars will enter their Week 12 bye week before returning home to the Houston Texans on Sunday, Dec. 1, before traveling to the Tennessee Titans and hosting the New York Jets. ( player1688 )
