New England Patriots head coach Jarrod Mayo said Drake Mayo suffered a concussion early in the second quarter of Sunday’s 25-22 win over the New York Jets, NFL Network reported.

May started the game, completing 3-of-6 passes for 23 yards. He carried the ball three times for 46 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game early in the second quarter with a concussion. The No. 3 overall rookie draft pick was slow to recover after carrying the ball for 18 yards and was tackled late in the first quarter.

The rookie quarterback was checked out in the medical tent on the sideline before heading to the locker room and being ruled out of the game, replaced by Jacoby Brissett, who completed 15 of 24 passes for 132 yards, no scores and no touchdowns.
