Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea considered selling Madueke during the summer transfer window because his performances did not justify the €33m valuation since his move from PSV Eindhoven in early 2023.

Madueke has scored five goals in 23 Premier League games and eight in 34 in all competitions but has not lived up to Chelsea’s expectations and, with interest from Newcastle United, a sale was considered, only for the Magpies to not hold talks.

So Madueke has stuck by Chelsea and has been selected by new head coach Enzo Maresca to start three of the first four Premier League games, scoring four goals in five games in all competitions, including a hat-trick in the 6-2 league win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on 25 August. ( superwin636 )
