New Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot revealed a philosophical choice, saying his plan for his first season is to build the team to compete in the 2021 season. Falcons make big change by appointing Fontenot as new general manager. This was followed by the appointment of Arthur Smith as the new head coach. But there has been no major change in power. They are also keeping quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones, two experienced players, to maintain their status for the 2021 season. 

However, the Falcons are limited by the salary cap and cannot expand much. So most of their upgrades will come from selecting players from the 2021 draft class, with the No. 4 draft pick being their intriguing pick for the franchise’s quarterback of the future. or upgrade to another position 

‘We will make decisions that help the team win this year. But we also have to think about future years, 2022, 2023, so there’s a balance,’ Fontenot said. ‘We want to be as competitive as possible now. At the same time, we also consider the future.’

‘We had to make some tough decisions with the players on our roster. We need to find players. We cannot build this roster with overpaid players from free agents and top draft picks. We have to really dig in and find value in the free agent market.’

Before discussing this year’s No. 4 draft pick, ‘Some really good players are going to be No. 4. There are a lot of different situations to go through. It is an important point to enter. It’s not a place we want to visit very often. But we have to take advantage of it and be open to all possibilities,’ Fontenot said.
