According to a report from ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, the Lions sent Stephard in a trade for Rams quarterback Goff and the rights to the first round of the 2022 draft. with 2023 and 3rd round draft rights in 2021,  which is the first former No. 1 draft pick since 1967 between Stephard (No. 1 Class of 2009) and Goff (No. 1 Class. 2016)
