Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur hailed Malik Willis’ performance after the 25-year-old quarterback led his team to a 30-14 victory over his former team, the Tennessee Titans, on Sunday, NFL Network reported.

The Packers traded Willis from the Titans on Aug. 26 after the former third-round draft pick in the 2022 draft class made his final appearance at Nissan Stadium as Tennessee’s starting quarterback, throwing one interception and two sacks before being traded to Green Bay for a seventh-round draft pick nine days later.

But in his return to his old home on Sunday, Willis looked like another Titan who the Packers could give away for free after completing 13 of 19 passes for 202 yards, one touchdown, rushing for another score and not allowing a turnover for the second straight week as he started in place of Jordan Love, who was out with a knee injury. 

“I can’t explain what he’s accomplished in such a short period of time,” LaFleur said of Willis. “People don’t understand it. I guarantee you they don’t. I know you think you do, but you don’t. What he’s accomplished, I’ve never seen anything like it.” 

Willis got off to a great start with a 5-yard scoring run to cap a 70-yard drive in which he ran six times for a total of 73 yards, with runs of 20 and 29 yards, including runs of 8 yards on third down and 7 yards to cap the drive with a field goal. 

Although Willis played well enough to lead the Packers to a win over the Titans, the 25-year-old quarterback didn’t see it as revenge against his former team, saying it was just another chance for him to prove himself as a young quarterback. “I think every win is equally important,” he said.  ( wilson88 )
