Goretzka began the 2024-25 season as a substitute under Kompany, making one Bundesliga appearance and one in the Champions League, scoring in Tuesday’s 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb. ( pgzen )

“He is important for us and will continue to be. Everyone in the team loves him. I only have players who want to play and accept the competition for a place in the starting line-up.”

“At Bayern it’s always easy to talk about individual players, but I want to talk about the team. That’s important for me.”

“He’s very important in this team, he’s playing well, but so are the others,” Kompany said of Goretzka.

For Goretzka, he is contracted to Bayern until 2026 and is likely to be approached by Premier League clubs next summer, or possibly in January.
