Rugani is a product of the club’s youth system and has been with the team ever since, having signed a new contract until 2026 earlier this year, but this season he is not in the plans of new manager Thiago Motta.

He was linked with Bologna and Genoa, two other top teams in the league, as well as offers from Al-Shabab and Al-Ain from the Middle East, but he chose to join Ajax after speaking to the team’s new Italian coach, Francesco Farioli.

For Rugani, he has been with Juventus since youth level in 2012, having previously had loan spells at Empoli, Rennes and Cagliari, making a total of 148 appearances for the Bianconeri, scoring 11 goals.
