Ben Johnson has chosen to stay on as offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions after the 37-year-old informed the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks that he would be staying. With the Detroit Lions next in the 2024 season, according to a report from NFL Network.  cosmo365

Johnson, who has led the Lions offense since 2022, is a hot candidate for the new head coach position. After helping the Raiders under head coach Dan Campbell finish the 2022 season ranked No. 4 in scoring average per game (26.9 points), No. 1 in total rushing average (387.4 yards) and No. 5th in yards per play (5.9 yards) 

The 37-year-old balances the pitching and running games with the strength of the Detroit Lions’ offensive line. And Johnson’s innovative game plan helped four Lions players in different positions to exceed 500 yards as the 2023 season. ( cosmo365 )

Winger Eamonn-Re St. Brown has 1,539 yards, rookie running back Jehmayr Gibbs has 1,261 yards, and veteran running back David Montgomery has 1,132. Yards and wing rookie Sam Laporta has 893 yards. 

And 29-year-old quarterback Jared Goff has excelled under Johnson in two years, ranking second in the NFL in rushing with 9,013 yards and 2nd in touchdown-to-interception ratio (59-19) 

The Lions lost to the San Francisco 49ers 31-34 in the NFC championship game on Sunday, and Johnson thought his job with the Lions Detroit isn’t done yet. The 37-year-old has informed the Commanders and Seahawks that he will continue working with the Lions next season.
