Italian outlet Calciomercato reports that Gudmundsson has been a target for Inter Milan since the summer transfer window opened and remains under constant surveillance, but the Nerazzurri will have to sell their two backup strikers, Arnautovic and Correa, first.

Selling Arnautovic and Correa would not generate enough money to fund a move for Gudmundsson, but it would help to reduce their wage bill, which is around €3.5m a year, so Inter are keen to make room for the Iceland international.

Inter have previously had offers sent to both strikers, but Arnautovic rejected offers from the Turkish club and Correa is not interested in a move to the Saudi Professional League, so finding a new club for both of them is a big challenge for the Nerazzurri.

For Gudmundsson, 27, who joined Genoa from AZ Alkmaar in January 2022, he played a key role in helping the team to promotion from Serie B in the 2022-23 season, scoring 14 goals in 38 games in all competitions, and last season in Serie A, scoring 16 goals in 37 games in all competitions.
