Roma defender Mats Hummels, who finished 29th in this year’s Ballon d’Or, has criticised Real Madrid for boycotting the award ceremony in Paris, describing their behaviour as similar to US presidential candidate Donald Trump, in a revelation on his Alone is Hard podcast.

Real Madrid are unhappy that Vinicius Junior missed out on this year’s Ballon d’Or and have criticised the club for not winning the award on France Football’s terms. The Spanish giants say Daniel Carvajal deserves the prize more, with Los Blancos feeling disrespected and unwilling to be in a place where there is no respect for them, leading to widespread criticism. 

While Hummels is another footballer who has criticised Real Madrid’s behaviour, which is no different from Donald Trump. 

‘Using the word ‘disrespectful’ because you weren’t elected feels a little Trumpian,’ Hummel said. ‘Unfortunately, it’s disrespectful to others. That’s the worst thing!’  ( Kindee1688  )
