Girona’s Miguel Angel Sanchez Muñoz, or Michel, has confirmed the signing of Pau Lopez after the 29-year-old goalkeeper joined from Olympique Marseille on a season-long loan deal, Marca reported on Friday. ( sunlit1688  )

Pau Lopez began his football career with Girona’s youth system in 2002, before moving to Espanyol’s youth system five years later, breaking into the first team in 2014. He then had spells with Tottenham Hotspur, Real Betis, Roma and Marseille before returning to his boyhood club on a one-year loan deal.

Pau Lopez is reportedly set to compete with Argentine goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who impressed last season, but it would be a surprise if Michel decides to drop the 32-year-old from his starting line-up.
