Genoa have undergone a transformation in the last couple of days, sacking Alberto Gilardino as coach on Tuesday and appointing Vieira as their new manager a day later, in what was a surprise move.

Vieira’s arrival has been linked to Balotelli, the new striker who was signed on a free transfer not long ago, as the two had previously had a falling out while working together at Nice.

“Mario is a smart guy, so is our new coach. They will hug each other in front of me. I’m sure they will live happily together,” Zangrillo said.

Balotelli has previously criticised Vieira, who took over at Nice in 2018, a season in which the former Italy international struggled to score, and criticised the new coach’s style of play, having previously scored 33 goals in two seasons under Lucien Favre. ( thaisiambet )
