Superpg1688 Sporting Lisbon, the employers of Ruben Amorim, have announced that they have received €12,658,000 (£10.6m) in compensation for terminating his head coaching contract to take up a new job at Manchester United. Superpg1688 

The 39-year-old is contracted until June 2026, so when United wanted him to replace sacked Erik ten Hag, they had to pay, and split it into two parts. 

The first part is a €11m (£9.2m) release clause for the head coach and his coaching staff, and the second part is a €1,658,000 (£1.4m) compensation for not giving 30 days’ notice of resignation. 

That means Amorim will be able to start work at Carrington from November 11,  with his first match as head coach on November 24 against Ipswich. 

“Sporting have reached an agreement with Manchester United to terminate their relationship and contract for the release of head coach Ruben Amorim for a fee of €11m,” the Green and Whites said in a statement.

“In addition, Sporting will receive a further €1,658,000 in additional benefits, subject to a 30-day notice requirement in the contract.”

Amorim has three more games left in charge for Sporting : the Portuguese  Primeira Liga against Estrela ( November 1 ) , Braga ( November 10 ) and the Champions League against Man City ( November 5 ) . ( Superpg1688  )
