Philadelphia Eagles agree to release Kevin Byard from the team to save $13.031 million. Even though the 30-year-old safety only played in 10 games with Philly, according to NFL Network.  ( superpg1688  )

The Eagles traded Byard from the Tennessee Titans last October in exchange for 2024 5th and 6th round draft picks along with safety Terrell Edmunds. To solve the backend problem of dealing with injuries. But the emergence of the 30-year-old experienced safety didn’t help things settle down as expected.

In 10 games with Philly, he had 75 tackles, one interception and three pass deflections, and the Eagles won their first four games since trading Byard from Tennessee. But then they lost five of their final six games of the regular season before being eliminated from the Super Wild Card playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

Byard is set to have a cap hit in 2024 of $14.417 million and the Eagles will save $13.031 million. For releasing the 30-year-old safety from the team, it was only $1.386 million. 

Byard’s release means the Eagles will have Sidney Brown as the only safety on the roster. So it’s a position that Philly general manager Howie Roseman will have to fill through free agency and this year’s draft.
