Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised Travis Kelce’s positive attitude after the 35-year-old wideout returned to his postseason form in a divisional playoff win over the Houston Texans, NFL Network reports. cup1688

Kelce looked like he was going through a rough patch after catching 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns in the 2024 regular season, the lowest total for a 35-year-old wide receiver in a decade. Kelce rediscovered his prowess in the divisional playoff win over the Texans, recording seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. 

It was Kelsey’s ninth postseason game with over 100 receiving yards, tying the record set by San Francisco 49ers Hall of Famer Jerry Rice. 

When asked about the energy Kelce brings to the Chiefs’ offense in the postseason, Reed said it’s much more than that as the Chiefs head coach.

‘Positive attitude is what allows you to do anything,’ Reed said. ‘I think he’s done a great job and shown other guys, listen, (when) we come together the right way, anything is possible. That’s what I admire the most about him. I also admire that at his age, he goes out there every day and practices hard, and just, if you try to pull him off, he gets mad at you. I think that’s something special about older players. ‘

Kelce broke the NFL postseason record for most receptions with 172 and was the sixth playoff game in which he had more receiving yards and at least one touchdown, with only Rice (seven) having more. He also became the second wide receiver in history to surpass 2,000 receiving yards in a playoff game after totaling 2,020 yards, trailing only Rice who had 2,245 receiving yards. 

‘I’m happy for him with seven receptions and all that, but I think it’s because we’ve got a variety of players around him,’ Reid said. ‘I mean, he’s had a lot of opportunities where he’s done well, and I don’t think it’s because he’s played less. When people ask about age, whether it’s age, physical ability or whatever,’

‘I just think we have a variety of players that we can use around him, and when we don’t, teams are going to be around him. It’s a good problem now because everyone is healthy and we have a lot of options, but they can’t focus on just him.’  ( cup1688 )
