The Dallas Cowboys will be without Daron Bland for the start of the 2024 season after the 25-year-old cornerback fractured his metatarsal during training camp and will miss six to eight weeks, ESPN reports. ( sunlit1688 )

Bland is reportedly set to undergo surgery on his fifth metatarsal on Monday. The injury timeline could see the All-Pro cornerback miss the first five or six games of the 2024 season before the Cowboys head into their Week 7 break before returning to action at the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 27.

“I’m glad it didn’t happen for a long time and we lost him for four or five games,” Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said of Bland. “It was serious, but the good news is we got him as part of the deal. That’s the good news.” 

The Cowboys reportedly won’t be looking for another cornerback during the 53-man roster selection process, with Jones confirming, “The good news is we have some guys that have performed very well in camp. We’re not looking for anybody else.”

The Cowboys will welcome Pro Bowl and All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs back to the starting lineup for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8 after missing the final 15 games of the 2023 season with a torn ACL in his left knee. Bland will be replaced by either Kelen Carson or Andrew Booth.
