Kirk is the obvious choice for a move away from the team this offseason, as the 28-year-old wide receiver has a base salary of $15.5 million and no guaranteed money left on his contract.
The Jaguars were reportedly planning to let Kirk leave, which would have saved $10.37 million in dead money, before the Leopards agreed to trade the 28-year-old wide receiver for a seventh-round draft pick from the Texans.
The Jaguars signed Kirk to a four-year, $72 million deal in 2022, which seems like an overpayment for a wide receiver who never recorded 1,000 receiving yards in four years with the Arizona Cardinals.
However, Kirk has been impressive since his first season in Jacksonville, catching 84 passes for 1,108 yards and 8 touchdowns, but his production has been off the charts over the past two seasons due to injuries, playing in just 8 games in the 2024 season, averaging a career-low 379 yards and one score.
The Jaguars will move forward with former first-round draft pick Brian Thomas Jr., who had a record-breaking rookie season, as well as Gabe Davis and Parker Washington on the roster, but they could add wide receivers in free agency or this year’s draft. ( cosmo365 )
