The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to sign former New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappi to the practice squad, as well as signing an extension with 28-year-old running back Semaji Pyrene, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Zappi started eight games in two years in New England, but he became surplus to requirements after the Patriots signed Jacoby Brissett this offseason, selected rookie Drake Maye with the third overall pick and Joe Milton with the sixth round of the draft, leading to Zappi’s departure. 

For the Chiefs, they will be led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, while Carson Wentz will be the backup, while Zappi will be on the practice squad and will only be called upon in an emergency.

The signing of Perine will add depth to the Chiefs’ running back position, in addition to Isaiah Pacheco, Carson Steele and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.  ( superwin636 )
