Wojciech Szczesny has revealed he did not sign for Barcelona to replace Inaki Peña and understands Hansi Flick’s mindset as he looks to compete for the No.1 spot, he told Eleven Sports on Friday. ( superwin636 )

Barcelona have signed Szczesny on an emergency deal following the long-term absence of Marc-Andre ter Stegen due to a knee injury, but the 34-year-old goalkeeper will face competition from 25-year-old Pena, who has emerged as the Blaugrana’s number one. 

‘He didn’t give any reason for leaving me on the bench. We talked a lot. I told the coach that I was 100 percent ready, but the team is doing well. If it’s not broken, don’t touch it.’ 

‘If I was in the coaching position, I wouldn’t be playing now either. I’ll have a chance to play later. The team is doing very well now, that’s the main thing,’ Cech said.
