    Sporting Lisbon’s coach was one of the names the “Reds” were interested in bringing in to be the club’s head coach, along with Xabi Alonso, until finally Arne Slot was appointed.

    Speaking to The Telegraph, Carragher said: “Ruben Amorim is one of the current coaches who plays with three centre-backs, along with Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi.”

    “I suspect one reason Liverpool chose Slot over Amorim last summer was because the Dutch coach played with four at the back, so the transition would be easier for the team.”
