Calafiori set to undergo physical examination before signing with Arsenal hotfuns

The deal for the defender, who can play at centre-back or left-back, is worth around £42m (€50m).

The Italy international defender could join Arsenal during pre-season in the United States if the move is completed in time.

Sky Sports reports that other Premier League clubs, including Juventus and Real Madrid, have tried to sign the player in the past 10 days.

But Calafiori only wants to go to the Gunners and has promised to join the Gunners, with the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci having worked with both clubs over the past month to ensure a deal is completed.

Bologna bought him from Basel last summer for just €4m (£3.4m), with Basel receiving 50 per cent of any profits Bologna make on any deal.
