Burrow ready to play in first game against Patriots hotfuns

Joe Burrow, a 27-year-old quarterback, has confirmed that he is ready to lead the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2024 season opener against the New England Patriots on Sept. 8, according to NFL Network.  ( hotfuns )

Burrow, who just returned from right wrist surgery, played in a preseason series against the Chicago Bears last week, leading the Tigers to a touchdown drive. He won’t play in the preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, but the 27-year-old quarterback insists he’ll be ready for the season opener against the Patriots whether or not he plays in another preseason game. 

“When the first game comes around, I’ll be ready,” Burrow said. “It doesn’t matter if we have another game or not. It would be nice to have another game, but I’ll be ready.”

Burrow has struggled since the start of his career, with the COVID-19 pandemic cutting his freshman season short, then rehabilitating from knee surgery in 2021, appendectomy in 2022 and a calf injury in 2023. 

“‘That’s the number of times I haven’t practiced in the last two or three years,’ Burrow said. ‘The more you practice before the season starts, the better you get. I’m happy with where I’m at and I’m moving in the right direction.’
