Black Cats announce club-record signing of Diarra doohee

doohee Sunderland have signed Senegal midfielder Habib Diarra from Strasbourg for a club-record £30m. doohee

The 21-year-old, who scored against England in a friendly at the City Ground in June, has signed a five-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Diarra made 31 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg last season, helping the club finish seventh in Ligue 1 and qualify for Europe for the second time in 20 years.

“I am so happy and excited to be a Black Cat and I can’t wait to meet the Stadium of Light and the fans here,” he said.

“Everyone saw what we achieved last season and I can assure you that I will give everything for this team and fight for these colors in the Premier League. I am ready for this challenge and can’t wait to get started.”

Diarra becomes Sunderland’s second new signing of the summer as they prepare for their first Premier League return since 2016-17 and is the direct replacement for Jobe Bellingham, who moved to Borussia Dortmund for £30million in June.
