berlin1688 The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they have exercised the franchise tag for the 2018 season on defensive end Ezekiel Ansah.

Despite the 6-foot-6, 275-pound player having struggled with injuries throughout the past two seasons, he has continued to be aggressive, playing in 27 games, recording 79 tackles and 14 sacks.  berlin1688

Especially in the 2017 season, despite being injured, he still managed to break through 12 sacks, especially in the last two games of the regular season, where he scored a total of 6 sacks. 

Ansah’s estimated salary is expected to be $17.5 million, up from the $16.9 million the defensive end received from the franchise tag last year.

This closed-door signing can be done at any time, with the money guaranteed. A team can have two franchise-tagged players per season, and negotiations for long-term deals can still be held until the July 16 deadline.  ( berlin1688 )
