The 25-year-old forward, who can play as a striker or on the right wing, has been a key player for Brentford since the 2019/20 season in the Championship, helping the team to promotion to the Premier League two seasons later, where they have survived until the current campaign.

The Gunners see the former Troyes man as a good complement to Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz after impressing this season, scoring eight goals in nine Premier League games.

Football Insider recently reported that Brentford have set a price of at least £60m for Mbeumo to leave the club in the January transfer window.

Brentford also sold another star striker, Ivan Toney, to Al Ahly in the Saudi Arabian league for £40m last summer and are reluctant to lose two star forwards in the space of a few months. ( sunlit1688 )
