Real Betis defender Marc Bartra has said that the highlight of Barcelona’s run under Hansi Flick this season is their high-back tactics, with Pau Gubarsi and Inigo Martinez both playing brilliantly, even though the style of play has put them at risk of conceding goals, Diario Sport reports on Monday. 

‘It looks like the defence is doing a good job. You can concede goals, but you can close games down and win the ball back quicker. You have more possession than the opposition,’ the 33-year-old said.

Bartra also spoke about the ‘La Masia’ academy that has produced a wealth of young talent for the first team in recent years: ‘It is no coincidence that we see Barcelona with so many players from La Masia. They are a world-class team, they are the best team.’

The 33-year-old defender has been part of ‘La Masia’ since 2002, breaking into the first-team squad eight years later before joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2016 before moving to Real Betis in the summer of 2018. He then moved to Trabzonspor for the 2022-23 season and returned to Betis following suit.

Bartra also spoke about 19-year-old striker Vitor Roque, who joined Real Betis on loan from Barcelona this season: ‘Before Vitor Roque came here, they asked me to take good care of him. He’s a special guy. He’s never had a good time. I have a lot of confidence in him. ‘  ( zbet911 )
