The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and left tackle Donovan Smith have agreed to a three-year, $41.5 million contract, including $27 million guaranteed, NFL Network reported Tuesday.  baconclub66

“Donovan has been a valuable player and a model of toughness since we drafted him four years ago,” Tampa Bay general manager Jason Licht said after signing the 25-year-old left tackle, a former second-round pick in the 2015 draft.

‘We are committed to developing our players and rewarding them for their performance and reliability, so it was important for us to retain Donovan as a Buccaneer. Donovan’s emergence ensures that our most important position will continue to be with the Offensive Line, and I know our coaching staff will be eager to work with him. ‘

The Buccaneers reached an agreement with Donovan before the franchise tag deadline. The 25-year-old left tackle played the final year of his rookie contract in 2018 for just $1.16 million and will be an unrestricted free agent on March 13. 

In the past few months, Tampa Bay signed left guard Ali Marpet to a $55 million contract through 2023, followed by a three-year deal at left tackle, giving quarterback Jameis Winston protection for years to come. ( baconclub66 )
