“It was a tough game, credit to Coventry, I thought they were fantastic, they played us down, made us have to defend really hard at times but we did it, at the end of the day credit to the players, it’s a cup game.

“Our performance wasn’t quite as fluid, at times it went in Coventry’s favour, they played with more energy but I was pleased with the result and the performance of Jed (Spence) and Brennan (Johnson), they came on and made the difference for us.

“He (Johnson) is a fantastic young player, a great player. I’ve spent a lot of time with him because he trains hard every day. He did well tonight to score and he had a good impact for us.

“It’s not easy to fix what we want and the result doesn’t change that. Tonight we showed what we’ve lacked in the previous four games, the fighting spirit and winning. Hopefully tonight will give the boys more confidence.”
