Amorim reveals the reason for his decision to move to manage the Red Devils Marinabays

He was announced as the club’s new manager at Old Trafford on Friday on a two-and-a-half-year deal, which the club have the option to extend for a further 12 months if they wish.

The 39-year-old will officially take charge during the international break, with his first game coming at Ipswich on November 24 after failing to give his statement of intent to Sporting Lisbon.

He was rather shy when speaking to the media ahead of the announcement and is expected to speak for the first time since his appointment.

However, one thing he is not shy about is the reason he joined United as he prepares to leave Sporting Lisbon after four-and-a-half years at the club.

“I think in everyone’s life, including yours, there comes a time when we do very well in life, but then we want something more, maybe something more to prove,” he said before the official announcement.

“We have to move forward with something that makes us unstable, that we don’t know if it will work or not.”
