The Spanish Football Federation has confirmed that Pau Gubarsi will return to Barcelona to undergo treatment on his ankle injury after the 18-year-old centre-back suffered the issue towards the end of the first half of the 2-2 draw with the Netherlands, Marca reported on Friday. ( 123over )
Previously, Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente was waiting to assess Gubarsi’s injury in the next 48 hours before the game against the Netherlands in Valencia on Sunday. Now, the Spanish Football Federation has confirmed that the 18-year-old center back has returned to his club.
‘Following tests carried out by the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s medical team, it has been decided that the player will return to FC Barcelona to begin his rehabilitation from the injury to his right ankle,’ the Spanish football federation said in a statement.
De La Fuente had previously called up 24-year-old centre-back Mario Quila to strengthen the squad in addition to Robin Le Normande, Dean Huysen and Raul Asensio.
