Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Spain midfielder Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for around €65m, more than his €60m release clause, in exchange for the right to pay the fee in instalments rather than all at once.

“Noticias de Gipuzkoa”, a local media outlet in the Basque region that follows the developments of Real Sociedad, reported on Sunday that Zubimendi, along with his agent, Inaki Ibáñez, travelled from Loei Airport to England to finalise his move to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Real Sociedad’s new football director, Eric Bretos, has just returned from London via Louvre Airport a few days ago, further confirming the progress of the negotiations.
