Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer has yet to make a decision on whether he will select a quarterback or left tackle with the No. 6 pick in the April 28 draft, NFL Network reported Wednesday. ( vox888 )
The Panthers still have two big holes, particularly at quarterback and left tackle, but Fitterer will have to decide which player to select with the No. 6 pick in the draft later this April.
“This is interesting because the tackle is going to be the best player on the board,” Fitterer said. “But we need a quarterback, and at some point you have to make a choice, especially in the top 10. You hate to force it, because when you force it, you can make mistakes.”
‘It’s a unique quarterback class because there’s no clear No. 1, 2 or 3. Who’s the proven starter that can come in and make plays for you? That’s the conversation we’re having for the next month – quarterback or left tackle.’
‘And we can get past the pass rusher because Brian Burns is coming (they exercised their fifth-year rookie option through 2023). I mean, we’ll take the option, but if that money runs out, it’s better to have someone ready to join the group.
