Villarreal eyeing Lyon’s young midfielder pgzen

Villarreal are keeping tabs on the situation of 19-year-old Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diawara as the OL are forced to sell a number of players to resolve the club’s financial crisis, Mundo Deportivo reported on Monday. pgzen

Lyon are facing relegation if they fail to improve their financial situation and as such, OL are likely to offload a number of players in both the winter transfer window and the summer of 2025. 

Villarreal are reportedly interested in signing France Under-19 midfielder Diawara, who has made 12 appearances (four starts) for Lyon’s first-team this season, with the youngster showing the potential to develop into a future player.

Diawara is currently under contract until 2028 but Villarreal face stiff competition from Lens, Nantes and Celtic, all of whom are prepared to offer €5m for the 19-year-old midfielder. ( pgzen )
